AMU VC Registered Himself As The First Volunteer For Phase-3 Clinical Trial Of Covaxin – The Second Angle

AMU VC Prof. Tariq Mansoor enrolled himself as the first volunteer for the Covaxin phase-3 trial by Bharat Biotech which began at JNMCH, Aligarh from November 14 till the end of January.

 

On Tuesday, AMU Vice-chancellor professor Tariq Mansoor enrolled himself as the first volunteer for the ‘Covaxin phase-3 trial’ by Bharat Biotech (Hyderabad) against the coronavirus which began at Jawaharlal Medical College & Hospital (JNMCH), Aligarh.

Professor Mansoor volunteered himself to motivate and inspire others to come forward and take part in the clinical trial for Covaxin as they invited 1000 volunteer for the clinical trial which starts from 14th November and will continue till the end of January.

He said that “the Covaxin phase-3 trial aimed at the safety and efficacy of Covaxin led by collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Bharat Biotech.” He also added that “By volunteering for a trial or study, one can get a chance to participate in groundbreaking research and contribute to developing better cures and treatment options.”

JNMCH principal Prof Shahid Ali Siddique informed that an ethical committee comprising doctors, social workers, and lawyers has already been constituted to manage the phase-3 trial, whose registration started from Tuesday, and phase-1 and phase -2 trial showed 90% result.

Volunteers who register themselves for trial will receive travel expenses and other benefits as per the guidelines of ICMR.
