The AMU Students’ Union for 2012-13 was led by President Shahzad Alam, with Tausif Alam as Vice-President and Manzar Hussain as Honorary Secretary. It ended early. In May 2013, the university expelled the President for indiscipline and misuse of union funds, and no union was elected in 2013-14.
AMUSU 2012-13 office-bearers
Wikipedia lists the President as Shahzad Alam Barni. Radiance Weekly reported the election on 31 January and the new office-bearers’ first meeting at Kennedy Auditorium on 3 February, where they promised to work for AMU’s minority status.
The President’s expulsion, May 2013

- February 2013: Sonia Gandhi addressed AMU’s 60th convocation by teleconference and said she had received the union’s memorandum and would take its suggestions to the government. (Ummid.com)
- 8 March 2013: The union postponed a seminar visit by Asaduddin Owaisi after BJP protests and a meeting with the District Magistrate. Shahzad Alam said the union did this voluntarily to protect communal harmony. (Oneindia)
