Twenty-five years after they left the Department of Business Administration, twenty-two members of AMU’s MBA class of 2001 were back on campus on Saturday, 24 October, for Baazgasht 2026, the batch’s silver jubilee reunion.
Some of them travelled a fair distance for it. The group came in from Delhi, Gurgaon, Allahabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Dubai and the United Kingdom.
Back at the Frank & Debbie Islam Management Complex
The reunion was held at the Frank & Debbie Islam Management Complex, home of the Faculty of Management Studies and Research (FMSR). Prof. Salma Ahmed, Chairperson, FMSR, welcomed the batch and spoke about what its members have gone on to do.

Then came the memories. Mr Nadeem Kazmi, Prof. Javed Akhter and Prof. Parvaiz Talib looked back on campus life and on the 25 years the batch has spent in the working world since.
One alumnus used the occasion for a small launch of his own. Dr Munirudheen, who founded Wiseworld Management Consulting in the UAE, did a soft launch of the firm’s website at the event.
Advice for the current MBA batch
The more useful part for today’s students was an interactive session where the alumni spoke about their own careers. The conversation covered:
- career options after an MBA and what industry expects from fresh hires
- internships and placements
- mentoring, with alumni offering to stay in touch with students
The visitors also went on a heritage tour of the university, which for many would have meant walking past buildings they last saw as students.
Shayari and a ghazal evening
The day closed with a cultural evening at the Akhil Bansal Amphitheatre. Hina Abbas, a first-year MBA student, read shayari, and Farrukh Baig, a singer and himself a DBA alumnus, presented a ghazal programme.
Members of the department’s Alumni Relations Committee, who put the reunion together, were given medals. MBA final-year students Ayan Ahmad and Asna Saleem hosted the programme and Arsala gave the vote of thanks.
