Hockey: final on the ground that made Zafar Iqbal
The tournament was organised by Saiyyid Hamid Senior Secondary School (Boys). Its opening match ended with ABK High School Boys beating STS High School 1-0.
The ground itself got a mention at both ends of the tournament. At the opening, Prof. Mohammad Jahangeer Warsi, Chairperson of the Department of Linguistics and President of the Linguistic Society of India, cited hockey great Zafar Iqbal, who captained India in several international tournaments, while urging the players to aim high. At the prize distribution, Officiating Principal Mr Sabahuddin reminded the boys that the same University Hockey Ground produced Zafar Iqbal, an Olympian and AMU alumnus.
