Previous years’ question papers are one of the most useful tools for AMU admission tests. They show the pattern of the paper, the type of questions and which topics come up again and again. This guide explains which courses still use AMU’s own tests, where to find past papers and how to use them well.

First, check which test your course uses

AMU admits students to some courses through its own admission tests and to others through CUET (UG). Past AMU papers help only if your course still has an AMU test. The Controller of Examinations publishes the list of courses, test dates and syllabus in the Guide to Admissions on amucontrollerexams.com. Our AMU admission 2026-27 guide explains the split.

Where to find AMU previous year papers

  • No official archive. AMU does not publish full past papers officially. Papers that circulate online are shared by students, so check each one against the current syllabus.
  • Seniors and coaching notes. Students who took the test in recent years are often the best source for the latest papers.
  • Official syllabus. Always match old papers against the current syllabus on amucontrollerexams.com, because the pattern of a test can change from one year to the next.

Courses with past papers

Students commonly share past papers for these AMU tests, among others:

  • Undergraduate: BA LLB, BTech, BCom, BSc and BSW
  • Postgraduate: MSc, MCom, MSW, MBA, MBA (IB), MTA and Mass Communication
  • PhD entrance tests

Check that the paper you are using is for the same course and the same test you will take.

How to use past papers

  1. Learn the format. Note the number of questions, sections, marks and time.
  2. Mark the repeat topics. List the topics and question types that appear year after year.
  3. Study those topics first. Use NCERT books and the standard books in our best books for AMU entrance guide.
  4. Solve full papers under time. In the last month, solve one full paper a week in the set time, then revise the questions you got wrong.
  5. Keep up with current affairs. Many AMU tests have a general awareness section. AMU-specific facts help here, so read our interesting facts about AMU.

Frequently asked questions

Does AMU publish its previous year question papers?

AMU publishes the syllabus and admission details on amucontrollerexams.com. Past papers are mostly shared by students and archives, so always match them against the current syllabus.

Are past papers useful for CUET courses?

No. For courses admitted through CUET (UG), practise with CUET papers and the NCERT Class 12 syllabus instead.

How many years of papers should I solve?

Five years of papers is a good target. Solve the most recent ones last, under exam timing.

Updated October 2026. Always confirm dates, syllabus and courses on amucontrollerexams.com.
