Updated on 24 October 2026. Previous year question papers are the most useful thing you can practise with for an Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) entrance test. They show you the level of the questions, which topics repeat and how much time each section needs. This page explains what AMU publishes officially, where students find past papers, and how to use them properly for the 2027-28 session.

AMU question papers: quick facts

Conducted by Controller of Examinations, AMU
Full past papers on AMU’s website No
What AMU publishes Guide to Admissions (with syllabus and test details), answer keys, results and counselling notices
Answer keys results.amucontrollerexams.com
Negative marking 0.25 marks for a wrong answer on a 1-mark question, except in B.Sc (Nursing), Ph.D. and vocational course tests
Minimum to qualify 20% marks in the admission test

First, check which test your course uses

Past AMU papers help only if your course still has an AMU admission test. In the 2026-27 cycle:

  • AMU’s own tests: B.Tech, B.Arch, BA LLB, B.Com (Hons), BBA, B.Sc (Hons), B.A. (Hons) in several subjects, Diploma in Engineering, Class 11 (Senior Secondary School Certificate) and many PG courses such as MBA, M.Com, MCA and LL.M.
  • CUET-UG: some B.A. (Hons) courses, including Hindi, Linguistics, Persian, Philosophy and Sanskrit, and B.Sc (Hons) Community Science.
  • NEET-UG: MBBS, BDS and BUMS. Practise with NEET papers, not old AMU medical papers.

Where to find AMU previous year papers

  • Answer keys from AMU: AMU posts answer keys for its tests on its results website. Use them to check your answers and see which questions appeared.
  • Education portals: sites such as AglaSem have posted recent B.Tech (AMUEEE) papers, and SelfStudys has older papers.
  • Solved-paper books: publishers sell solved AMU entrance books for school and professional tests. See our best books for AMU entrance tests.
  • Seniors: students who took the test recently can tell you which sections felt hardest.

Papers that circulate online are usually shared by students and coaching centres, not by AMU. Check the year and course printed on each paper, and match answers against AMU’s official key wherever you can.

How to use past papers properly

  1. Read the syllabus first. Download the Guide to Admissions for your year from the Controller of Examinations website. Test patterns can change between years.
  2. Solve one paper untimed. Find out what you know and what you do not.
  3. Then solve under exam conditions. Same time limit, no phone, OMR-style marking.
  4. Mark with negative marking. Deduct 0.25 for every wrong answer on a 1-mark question, so you learn when to skip.
  5. Review every mistake. Keep a notebook of errors and revise it before the test.

Five papers solved and reviewed properly are worth more than fifty downloaded and never finished.

Common mistakes

  • Practising with papers for the wrong course or a test format that has since changed.
  • Trusting answer sheets that do not match AMU’s official key.
  • Guessing blindly, which costs marks because of negative marking.
  • Ignoring sections like General Knowledge, where well-prepared students pick up easy marks.
