Baseless Claims Can Never Render ‘Bapu’ Low In Stature – The Second Angle

For the past few years, it appears as if the country’s leaders have sparked a political storm in the Hindu-Muslim relationship. From the moment they wake up, neither side seems willing to stop embarrassing the other. Even the nation’s father, Mahatma Gandhi, is not immune to the poison that has been sown between the two communities, as anyone who knows the common man can attest. Such individuals are those who, despite their lack of education, have found themselves on the throne of society. On this premise, they have begun to degrade the country’s national pride and dignity.

The Gandhian idea of prioritizing nationality over communalism was not inculcated among Hindus until 1906-07 when everyone was either a Hindu or a Muslim in the truest sense of the terms. At the time, the word “communal” had not become synonymous with hostility. For centuries, Hindus, and Muslims treated their opponents with civility, tolerance, and compassion. This means that, in the interim, some people who regard Hindus and Muslims as bitter enemies want both of them to die fighting in their own right. As a result, some things should be conspicuously implanted in the minds and hearts of people from which they will never recover.

The first thing instilled in the psyche and minds of the community is that Mahatma Gandhi himself partitioned India and Pakistan, appointing Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru as Prime Minister. That is to say, Bapu is solely responsible for the division. This issue has been demonstrated and addressed so many times on social media in such a well-planned manner that many have begun to believe it to be true. As a result, hearing this word of mouth, one based on his minimal understanding declares, “Yes, something was wrong with Gandhiji, and the country was divided as a result.” However, history shows that Gandhi made numerous efforts to prevent the country from splitting.

Gandhi met with Mountbatten five times between March 31 and April 4, 1947. Mountbatten once wrote, “Gandhi proposed to me that Mr Jinnah be given the first chance to establish the government. Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Jawaharlal Nehru were both of English descent. Both had their barrister training in London. Both were more at ease speaking English with a British accent than in their native tongue as a result of their upbringing. ”

The Dalai Lama, Tibet’s highest spiritual leader, has previously stated that Mahatma Gandhi intended Muhammad Ali Jinnah to be the country’s first prime minister, but that Jawaharlal Nehru developed a “self-centred mentality” in becoming the country’s first prime minister.

The Dalai Lama asserted at an event at the Goa Institute of Management, 40 kilometres from Panaji, that India would not have been partitioned if Mahatma Gandhi’s intention to appoint Jinnah as the first prime minister had been fulfilled. “I believe that a democratic system is better than a feudal system,” the 83-year-old Dalai Lama said in response to a student’s inquiry about making the proper decisions. The decision-making authority in the feudal system is concentrated in the hands of a few people, which is extremely dangerous. He further stated, “Now look at India. I believe Mahatma Gandhi was eager to appoint Jinnah to the position of Prime Minister. ”

Second, it is widely disseminated on social media, and it is alleged that Mahatma Gandhi did little to prevent Bhagat Singh’s execution. This, however, is not the case. Gandhi had tried everything he could to save Bhagat Singh until his execution day. Many lies about Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru are being circulated on social media, and they have nothing to do with reality. The right-wing in India is attempting to portray Gandhi and Nehru as villains.

It is now widely assumed that Gandhi did nothing to prevent Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru from being hanged. However, this is not the case. On October 7, 1930, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru were sentenced to death. His execution date was set for March 24, 1931. Bhagat Singh and his colleagues became immensely popular among the youth as a result of court hearings and hunger strikes. Gandhi had risen to become India’s most powerful leader at the time. In such a crisis, everyone anticipated Gandhi to act quickly to resolve the issue. Gandhi and Irwin struck an agreement on February 17, 1931. Supporters of Bhagat Singh urged Gandhi to insert in this pact a clause prohibiting Bhagat Singh’s execution.

The question now is whether Gandhiji tried to help Bhagat Singh. Gandhi was said to have harboured sympathy for Bhagat Singh to the very end. On March 23, 1928, Mahatma Gandhi is said to have written a personal letter requesting a stay of execution for Bhagat Singh and his associates. The book ‘My Life is My Message’ mentions what Gandhiji wrote in the letter, “If there is an opportunity for even the tiniest consideration of the verdict, you are requested to rescind the punishment or postpone it until it is considered,”

In relation to the India-Pakistan split, Dr BR Ambedkar stated, “Gandhiji wanted to evade the topic of division on the pretence of the first two factors.” He began by stating that India’s partition was a moral blunder and a sin in which he would not participate. This is an unexpected argument. India isn’t the only country that has had to deal with boundary division or moving based on natural and historical facts for reasons that are based on national facts. Poland has been partitioned three times, and no one can predict that it will not be partitioned again.

In response to the second question, Gandhiji began by protesting that the Muslim League does not represent Muslims and that Pakistan is nothing more than Jinnah’s dream. It’s impossible to comprehend how Gandhiji could not see with his own eyes how Jinnah’s influence on the Muslim people was growing by the day and how he was attempting to marshal his entire force.

These occurrences cannot be resolved in a single piece, but if given the opportunity, there is much to consider by writing more about them.
