The Aligarian is an independent online magazine about Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), its alumni and Aligarh city. This page explains how we research, write, update and correct our stories.
What we cover
Campus news and AMU updates, admissions and student guides, the history of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and the Aligarh Movement, alumni achievements, and news, culture and places from Aligarh city in Uttar Pradesh.
How we research
- Facts such as admission dates, fees, rankings and rules are checked against official sources first, including amu.ac.in, the AMU Controller of Examinations, UGC, NIRF and the Aligarh district administration.
- News reports are based on dated reports from established newspapers and news agencies, and we name the source in the article.
- History and background pieces use published books, official histories and reliable reference sources. Where sources disagree on a date, we say so.
- We do not publish rumours, unverified claims about individuals or anonymous allegations.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made by our editors. Sponsored content, if any, is clearly labelled and kept separate from news and guides. We do not accept payment to change or remove factual reporting.
Updates
Guides that depend on official information, such as admissions, scholarships and hostel rules, are reviewed when the university publishes new notices. Each article shows its publish date and, when updated, the date of the latest update.
Corrections
If you spot an error, please tell us through our contact page with the article link and the correct information. We check every correction request and update the article quickly when we have made a mistake, noting significant changes in the article.
Use of AI tools
We may use software tools to help with research, outlines and proofreading. Every article is reviewed, fact-checked and edited by our editorial team before publishing, and the editors are responsible for what we publish.
Images
We use our own photographs, images supplied with permission, or freely licensed images (for example from Wikimedia Commons) with the photographer and licence credited under the image.
