Eleven students have been elected to the AMU Court for 2026-27, one from each faculty or faculty group, in the Aligarh Muslim University Students’ Union (AMUSU) election held on 5 November 2026. The Court seats were the first results declared on counting night, faculty by faculty, before the main posts of President, Vice-President and Honorary Secretary.

Two of the 11 Court members are women: Amina Faizan from the Faculty of Unani Medicine and Ilma Mashroof from the Faculty of Commerce.

What is the AMU Court?
The Court is one of the highest bodies of Aligarh Muslim University under the AMU Act. It includes university officers, representatives of the government, alumni, teachers and elected student members. Student members carry the views of their faculties into the Court’s meetings, where the university’s broader policies and annual reports are discussed.
How Court members are elected
Students vote for a Court member from their own faculty on the same day as the Students’ Union election, using a separate ballot box. Some smaller faculties are grouped together and share one seat, such as International Studies with Management Studies and Research, and Agricultural Sciences with Theology.
