Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has appointed two Deputy Proctors and seven Assistant Proctors to the proctorial team led by Proctor Prof. Mohd. Nafees Ahmad Ansari. The appointments take effect from 9 October 2026, according to an office memo issued by the Registrar’s office (Administration Section, Teaching) on 14 October 2026.
The Vice-Chancellor approved the appointments on the recommendation of the Proctor. The memo is signed by Joint Registrar S.M. Suroor Athar.

A new Proctor took charge on 9 October
Prof. Mohd. Nafees Ahmad Ansari of the Department of Political Science took charge as Proctor on 9 October 2026, replacing Prof. Mohammad Naved Khan. The change came on the same day AMU announced that Students’ Union elections will be held on 5 November 2026, the first in eight years.
With the new Deputy and Assistant Proctors in place, the Proctor’s office will handle campus discipline and student matters in the run-up to the elections.
