ALIGARH March 15:

>BSW pass students eligible for admission to PG courses in social science.

The BSW pass students are eligible to apply for admission to various PG courses in the Faculty of Social Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University, subject to the fulfillment of other eligibility requirements, applicable to such courses.
The Vice-Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University, Prof Tariq Mansoor has approved this change on the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Chairman, Department of Social Work.
The necessary changes have been made to this effect in University’s guide to admission for the academic session 2018-19.

>Silaris hires 64 AMU students.

Silaris Informations Pvt Ltd has hired 64 Aligarh Muslim University students pursuing various undergraduate and post-graduate courses to work in areas of customer- interaction-services, back-office-processing, customer-acquisition and engagement and strategic-consultancy. Over 120 students appeared for interviews.

The placement drive was organized by the Training and Placement Office (TPO)—General of the university.

“The Silaris team has appreciated the talent of AMU students and they intend to hire more students in future,” said Mr. Saad Hameed (Training and Placement Officer).

He pointed out that on-campus placements have increased in the past two months and several reputed companies have visited AMU for recruitments. “Workshops on career counseling and personality development are been regularly organized and the university’s annual job-fair is scheduled to take place in April,” said Mr. Hameed.

AMU M Tech student present papers in IIT—Roorkee, IIT—Indore Aligarh, March 15: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) student, Mohd Akif Razi, who is pursuing M Tech (Structural Engineering), presented research papers at IIT—Roorkee and IIT—Indore. At the ‘International Conference on Advances in Construction Materials and Structures’, IIT—Roorkee, Razi presented a paper on ‘Seismic Analysis of Hill Buildings’, while his paper on ‘Performance Evaluation of Different Coagulants for the Treatment of Pulp Paper Mill Waste-Water’ was presented at IIT—Indore’s ‘International Symposium on Water: Resources, Challenges and Sustainability.’ Razi was the only student invited to present papers in both programmes. Participants of IIT—Roorkee conference and IIT—Indore symposium were faculty members from various engineering colleges and universities from across the country and abroad. Professor A R Kidwai delivers a keynote address on ‘Autobiography in English and Oriental Literary Tradition’.

Aligarh, March 15: Professor A R Kidwai (Director, UGC Human Resource Development Centre, Aligarh Muslim University—AMU) delivered a keynote address on ‘Autobiography in English and Oriental Literary Tradition’ during a national-seminar at the Lucknow campus of Maulana Azad National Urdu University. He delineated the main contours of autobiography while evaluating its various forms. Prof Kidwai further discussed details of some remarkable autobiographies. Prof S P Singh (Vice Chancellor, Lucknow University) and Prof Aslam Parvez (Vice Chancellor, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad) were present on the occasion. Institute of Ophthalmology to organize ‘Diabetic Retinopathy CME’ Aligarh, March 15: The Institute of Ophthalmology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in collaboration with the Vitreo Retina Society-India (VRSI) will organize a ‘Diabetic Retinopathy CME’ on March 18, 2018. AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor will attend the inaugural programme of the CME as the Chief-Guest. Prof Saiyid Nasir Askari is the Organising Chairman, while Dr. Abdul Waris is the Organising Secretary. Dr. A Giridhar (President, VRSI) and Dr. Raja Narayanan (Secretary, VRSI) will also attend the programme. Public Relations Office Aligarh Muslim University

Prof Imtiaz Ashraf delivers the keynote address at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University.

Aligarh, March 15: Prof Imtiaz Ashraf (Chairperson, Department of Electrical Engineering, Aligarh Muslim University—AMU) delivered the keynote address on ‘Energy Conservation’ during a workshop at the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir.

He delineated principles and methods for energy conservation and policies to reduce electricity consumption. Discussing the role an energy auditor plays in the conservation of energy, Prof Ashraf also urged the workshop participants to use electricity judiciously.

Prof Ashraf is a well-known expert on energy conservation.
