AMU to increase BALLB and LLM seats

Aligarh, April 23: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is all set to increase the intake of students in the BALLB and LLM courses of the Department of Law.
After the AMU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor approved the recommendations of the Department’s Board of Studies, the university from the 2018-19 academic session will give admissions to 120 students in the BALLB course. Earlier, 100 students were admitted in the course.
The LLM course will now have an intake of 35 students instead of 25 and the admission test paper will consist of 50 per cent objective and 50 per cent subjective questions.

Art exhibition begins at AMU

ALIGARH April 24: “Art provides us with the second-best medium of expression after literature and it gives larger space to contemporary issues and challenges faced by society”, said Dr Hameeda Tariq, noted paediatrician and the chief guest while addressing the inaugural session of Regional Art Exhibition organized by the State Lalit Kala Akademi, Lucknow, in collaboration with the Department of Fine Arts, Aligarh Muslim University.

Dr Hameeda Tariq pointed out that Art was the oldest form of expression presenting the various phases of human development through ages.She said that the art exhibition will serve as a source of inspiration to amateur artists from Aligarh region and around.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, Prof Madhu Rani, Chairperson, Department of Fine Arts said that the art exhibition will provide an opportunity to young artists to display their skill and learn the nuances of this oldest form of expression. She thanked the State Lalit Kala Akademi for extending the opportunity to AMU students and other youths from the area to partake in this exhibition. The State Lalit Kala Akademi, Lucknow awarded Rs 10 thousand cash prize each to three participants – Ekta Kulshreshtha and Anees Fatima of Aligarh and Anoop Kumar Singh of New Delhi, for their excellent artworks.

Prof. Mohd Zahid, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Lalit Kala Akademi Programme Incharge, Mr Rajendra Mishra were present on the occasion along with members of the organizing committee.

Sir Syed Academy to organise the national seminar 

Aligarh, April 23: The Sir Syed Academy, Aligarh Muslim University will organise a two-day national seminar on ‘Sir Syed’s Contribution to National Integration and Inter-Religious Understanding’ on May 7 and 8. AMU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor will preside over the inaugural function.

Topics for papers to be presented in the seminar should be either from ‘Sir Syed’s Contribution to National Integration’ or ‘Sir Syed’s Contribution to the Inter-Religious Understanding’, said Prof Syed Ali Mohammad Naqvi (Director, Sir Syed Academy) while inviting participants of the programme.
