The Women’s College of Aligarh Muslim University held Deeksharambh 2026, an induction programme for newly admitted undergraduate students, in the college auditorium on 7 October 2026. About 500 students and teachers attended.
Who spoke and what they said
- Prof. Shagufta Imtiaz, Principal: Welcomed the students and spoke about the vision of the college’s founders, Sheikh Abdullah and his wife Waheed Jahan.
- Prof. Amanullah Khan, former Chairperson, Department of Surgery, JN Medical College: Spoke on the college’s history and development, and on hard work, discipline, self-confidence, communication and continuous learning.
- Prof. Shafey Kidwai, Director, Sir Syed Academy: Spoke on Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s life and his support for women’s education. He asked students to set goals, use their college years well and build good relationships with their teachers.
- Prof. Samina Khan, Presiding Officer, Internal Complaints Committee: Led a session on gender sensitisation, equality and respect, and encouraged students to report sexual harassment so the campus stays safe.
The programme
Dr Mohd. Firoz Ahamed conducted the programme. Zaib Fatima gave the opening recitation, Hooria Khan read the translation and Prof. Nikhat Yasmin Shafeeq proposed the vote of thanks.
