Why the Best Researcher award matters
In a moot court, teams argue a made-up case before judges as if it were a real hearing. Marks go to two things: how well students speak in court, and how well they research and write their memorials (the written arguments). A Best Researcher award means the judges rated this team’s legal research among the strongest in the field, which is the part of mooting that takes weeks of work in the library before anyone stands up to speak.

For a law department at an off-campus centre, a national semi-final and a research prize against teams from established law schools is a good showing. Prof. Nigamananda Biswas, Director of AMU Murshidabad Centre, congratulated the students and praised their dedication, legal skill and hard work.
