Nineteen candidates are contesting the three top posts in the AMU Students’ Union (AMUSU) 2026-27 election: 9 for President, 7 for Vice-President and 3 for Honorary Secretary. Polling is on Thursday, 5 November. This roundup lists what each candidate has promised, using only public sources: manifestos released by the candidates and dated newspaper reports. Where we could not find a manifesto, we say so.
The Aligarian does not support any candidate. Each candidate gets the same format and up to four points, in the order of the official candidate list. A candidate marked “no manifesto found” may still have shared promises in speeches or on social media that we could not verify. Candidates can send us their manifesto and we will add it in the same way.

Issues common to many candidates
Across manifestos and news reports, the same concerns come up again and again: hostel shortages and facilities, mess food quality, women students’ safety and timings, delays in documents and results, fees, placements, and the dispute over AMU land with the municipal corporation. Women students at the final speeches on 3 November also raised hostel facilities, mess food and hygiene, according to local reports.
