The OPD at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital (JNMCH), AMU, will stay closed on Monday, 9 November 2026, for Deepawali. Patients who need routine consultation should plan to visit on another working day, but the Emergency and Trauma Centre, Blood Bank, Dialysis Unit and other essential services will run as usual.
The notice was issued by the Office of the Medical Superintendent, JNMCH, on 7 November 2026.
What is closed and what stays open
Closed on 9 November: the Outpatient Department (OPD), where most patients come for routine check-ups, follow-ups and new registrations.

Open as usual:
- Emergency and Trauma Centre
- Central Investigation Laboratory (Lab 01)
- Emergency Drug Store
- Blood Bank
- Dialysis Unit
- Central Sterilization Unit
- Central Gas Plant
- Kitchen, Maintenance and Security sections
The Medical Superintendent has asked all in-charges to keep staff on duty as per the roster, so that patient care, cleanliness and security are not affected during the holiday.
What patients should do
- If you had an OPD date on 9 November, go on the next working day instead. Carry your old OPD card and reports.
- For accidents, chest pain, breathing trouble, burns or any serious problem, go straight to the Emergency and Trauma Centre. It does not close on holidays.
- Dialysis patients can keep their scheduled sessions, since the Dialysis Unit is listed among essential services.
- Blood requirements can be handled at the Blood Bank on the day.
Diwali week also brings more burn injuries from crackers every year. Keep a bucket of water nearby, keep children at a safe distance, and do not apply toothpaste or ice to burns; cool the area under running water and reach the emergency if the burn is large or deep.
